Greece, A Beautiful Country

Greece is a beautiful country with tons of historical aspects. It has a lot of islands (2,000) and the main tourist attractions are far from each other and you would need a plane or ferry to get to the next famous city Greece has. The boat is one of the most essential ways of travel there for the great space between cities. It is off the Mediterranean sea which provides room for travel, fishing and a beautiful view. Greece is known for its architecture, where Athens has huge historical buildings that were built thousands years ago and Santorini has houses shaped like blocks that white to reflect the sunlight. The historical parts of Greece, the Acropolis have been ruined through the centuries of earthquakes, pillaging and pollution.
Greece was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been and will always be one of my favorite trips. Santorini was my favorite island there because of beauty of all the white buildings and being able to see the sea everywhere you went. When I chose Greece as my graduation gift after high school I didn't expect to love it so much but also be a little disappointed in other ways. I am not the best traveler and having around 12 hours of flying just to get to Greece was lot for me. Also when you were ready to go to another island is would of taken a couple of hours on a ferry or riding a really scary small plane.

US Born High Schooler Is Detained

An 18 year old American high schooler was detained by immigration on June 27th. He was on his way to Houston to be scouted for soccer by colleges. The young man and his friends were stopped at a CBP checkpoint and this is where he was detained. He had his ID for Texas, birth certificate and social security card with him but for them it somehow was not enough. This could of been sorted out had they looked into his citizenship but they didn't give it the time or effort.
His name is Fransisco Galicia and he was wrongfully treated when told he had "no rights" even though he was a US citizen. Galicia said the conditions in which he was kept were so bad that he almost agreed to be deported just to get away from them. It is led to believe that he was racially profiled during this stop at a checkpoint because he had the information to back up that he was a citizen. Galicia said none of the people there were treated like human beings when they forced to sleep on concrete floors every night in unfair living conditions. They were not allowed to shower at all and every 3-4 days were given just a wet wipe to clean up. This is no way how anyone should be treated documented or not.   He is now out but spends his time thinking about all of the other people who have to continue to with stand those conditions.

My Favorite Hobby

When I was in the 6th grade I somehow convinced my mom to buy me this awful pink eyeshadow palette and it changed everything for me. Yes, I was called a pink raccoon at times but the freedom to be able to express myself was so fun for me. Once I got into high school I began to wing my eyeliner everyday. I look back with a lot of regrets at some of my makeup looks, but with all that practice I can now master a long wing and it just give me this immediate confidence boost. Makeup has and will always be one of my favorite things to spend my time doing.
I know to some people this may not seem like a hobby, but to me it is because it is something I'm doing a lot and I love it. I use to practice putting on eyelashes every night so I could now be able to throw on a pair and immediately feel amazing. Lashes are my biggest thing, I almost wear fake eyelashes everyday. I do love color though and love to go crazy with my eyeshadow. Being able to express myself like this is so fun for me and what I look forward to when I wake up every day.

All About Me!

My name is Jessie Floyd and I was born and raised in Houston, Texas, so for the first two years of my college career I attended a junior college close to home. I was ready to get out of my comfort zone so I decided to move here to Fayetteville, Arkansas because it was so beautiful and I wanted to graduate from the University of Arkansas. I decided to major in Psychology because I am very interested in learning why we do the things we do and mental health. I am interested in self expression which is shown in what I enjoy watching, like RuPaul's Drag Race and Project Runway. I like to express myself through my over the top makeup and personality. I even work at a makeup store so I can constantly be around the beauty world and help people use makeup as a tool to feel better about themselves and find their inner beauty.
After I graduate with a bachelors in psychology I will pursue a masters in counseling. I would like to get my masters at a school in Texas to be back closer to home. When I move back to Texas I have a job waiting for me with a counselor who use to come and talk at my high school. After I graduate again I will plan on working with other counselors and would enjoy counseling youths. If that plan doesn't work out I would like to either be a mentor or a life coach and work with middle schoolers. Later in life I am interested in opening up my own practice.
